Sherlock. XD

vol1Well, if you still read my anime blog, I claimed there that I’m quite enticed by the show Detective Conan. Well, that is the reason I was persuaded to try and read some mystery novels such as The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes. Well, you might probably laugh about it but it’s true. I began reading Adventures of Sherlock Holmes after watching its 6th movie, the Phantom of the Baker Street.

I don’t really remember well where did this book I’m reading right now came from. As far as I know I totally regret bringing my Brainteasers book at the mini-library exhibition during second year when someone stole it. I was thought of having revenge (just to be an outlet) so I also stole a book. And that is this book. I remember Chezka was the one reading it by that time. I also believe that Anthony Romero owns this book but I really don’t care because this book served as a remuneration for my book that was also stolen. Haha, this book has a story so I really can’t forget it XD.

Okay, let’s proceed to what I really want to write on this post. I’m actually searching for this book(the picture at my left). It is entitled Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories. Volume 1. I have the volume 2 because I bought without realizing that it has a volume 1. Because of that, I can’t start reading the book. It is a Bantam Classic. I will really really appreciate if anyone who reads this help me find the book. I tried searching it through Amazon and it really is there but it cost roughly 350 pesos excluding delivery here at Philippines, where as I only bought the volume 2 worth 250 pesos!!! So sad… If I really really become desperate— I’l have my brother do the necessary steps XD . I really want to have this book. As an alternative for the moment, I’m currently considering reading Agatha Christie’s book. I was really surprised when there lots of her books at the bookstore when Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes is the most famous duo for the mystery writer and the fictional detective.

PDA Results

akiraI really don’t know why I’m writing an entry about this

All I know is, the requirement for someone to win is so biased. If you are the one that strove harder just to be at that stage, will you let those clueless people outside to judge and ask for their supports with their subjective minds? Of course the people would eventually vote for them because they could brag that the one they vote is their relative, friend or even just their neighbor across the streets. It’s unimaginable right? If PDA really aims to crown the rightful contestant, then why do text voting as the way to know the rightful one? I thought they did some judging whenever they do the singing every Saturday night, if the contest is not biased, why is it they didn’t based the results to the Gala Night performances?

Or was it– ABS-CBN wants to attract these audience and viewers to watch it and take part so their TV ratings would sky rocket? The criteria for winning is just so unethical. 100% text votes? Oh come on, then that’s clearly the what you call “Popularity Contest”. Well, I would accept the fact that it is the criteria for Pinoy Big Brother… but for me, it is no contest that requires any skill such as singing. The only thing you do there is to be yourself. Unlike PDA, which requires tempering your skills while you are inside in order to gain techniques and skills.

I really didn’t liked the results. Liezel ended up 4th place when she was usually the first placer. Meanwhile, Miguel who haven’t even experienced being on the top 3 during Gala Nights(except for the first) ended up being 3rd on the last moment. Considering those results, isn’t it biased? They could have included the text votes for the criteria but they should have just given it a percentage and not the whole. Otherwise, then what the contestants battling here for is the number of people they pleased and know. Not the skills that they showed. Just what are the jury for? I thought they are on their seats to do the objective in grading the contestant… But what we have here are subjective minds which of course will vote who they know, who they like, who is charismatic, who is intelligent, etc… without thinking what the contest really is for.

Oh well, what’s done is done. Don’t mistook for someone who had grudge against any of them — Miguel actually came from my city so I really don’t mind. I’m just pointing out what I think is wrong about the show.

I know a lot of people who doesn’t care — so why the hell am I sticking my nose to others’ business?

I lost my I.D

…I don’t know if I did get a credit or a debit… I lost my I.D right after I borrowed a book from SC Pahiram Libro… They borrowed my I.D for a moment and they did returned it to me — but I don’t know where did I put it after I received it… I don’t know if I should regret borrowing the books T_T. I hope my I.D would be at the Lost and Found Office on Monday… This is soo depressing, it is still the start of the semester and I immediately lost something.

At first, I thought that the smart card readers were not functioning well because did they not detected my I.D(which is supposedly on my wallet). So there is this two guards who never asked anything even though they did noticed that my I.D wasn’t scanned by the smart card reader. I walked away from the entrance and immediately proceed to my class (—-classes going on—-) . Well, that’s it. I don’t usually open my wallet during class hours because I don’t have any reason. Just in coincidence, I did open it for some reason. I need a 1×1 picture so I get one. Again, I foolishly overlooked that my I.D wasn’t there anymore(I was really stupid. Considering they are just beside each other). I was finished by around 5:30 because of early dismissal. I did passed again for an I.D scan near Gokongwei Hall. This is just soo stupid. I thought the scans were broke AGAIN or something. I did tried to scan my I.D for both smart card readers but they didn’t scanned any so I just passed. I thought the guards never paid any attention so I just passed by without any permission. I thought they never noticed that I wasn’t able to scan my I.D but they did so they called my attention(which I didn’t heard because of the noise). I just happened to know because my friends yelled for my name saying the guard called for me because of my I.D. Okay, I was so excited to go home so I really didn’t bother.

So, I did reached the south gate and I’m on my way to home. I did caught a jeepney till I drop off myself in front of PGH to catch a bus that time. I did caught a Saint Rose Transit so I said to myself –”lucky!”(which I really regret because I wasn’t). Okay, I was very relaxed until I decided to get some bills to pay for my bus fare. There you go, my I.D is freaking missing! I did panicked so I checked out my stuffs. I check all my pockets, my briefcase, my bag — and I didn’t found it. I tried to calm myself to remember what went wrong… That’s it–my memory became vague right after I borrowed the cursed books T_T.

I was really down that day because loosing an I.D is a real hassle (plus it’s very expensive!). I really hope a Good Samaritan happen to pick it up and give it to the Lost and Found Office. It’s my last resort… or I’ll pay 600 just for a replacement…(see!!! the price is just awful XD)

—Update!—

Yey! It’s on Lost and Found Office although I haven’t claimed it yet because the office closed early(12:00 for Saturdays). Good thing the Help Desk has it as a reminder so I could claim it on Monday. (lolz I became famous to the guards)

Snoopy

Yeah right, I know what you’re thinking. It’s the Beagle thing and the one with Woodstock(In case it’s him that you know). Even so. What I’m referring here is our pet dog. He died today… I don’t know what went wrong but he had problems eating last night. The plausible cause of his death might be the often change in climate… He is already 7 years old. He was together with me since I was Grade 3. He almost bit me one time. He was the reason I was traumatized to dogs. I hated going out of our garage ever since that incident happened. If I want to go to the car, I always want someone to come with me. I don’t know what’s wrong with Snoopy but he oftens bark at me when I got home. He always seem so angry at me. I hated him for that. I never did anything bad to him.

The last time I saw him was yesterday. He is already weak and we already had a premonition that he wouldn’t remain that long… He even waited for me to come home. I was a bit surprise when I got home because he looked like weak and kind of sad… I never though that it would be his last night with us…

Snoopy actually got his name from “her”. Yes. He is not the first Snoopy we’ve got. We also had a dog named Snoopy even though she was actually a female. She is the most loyal and clever dog we had. She knows when my mother is angry at her. She knows also where to do the toilet and she all acknowledge us as her owner. She could be simply summoned through the “chu-chu” sound.

Unlike this late Snoopy of ours, He is very difficult to summon. He is very moody and doesn’t follow his master at times. In time, he also learned to follow where to do the toilet. He was our most reliable pet dog ever had. Well you know, he even barked at me and almost bit me. What about strangers… He is a great help in the security of the house because my father sometimes forget to lock the doors.

Hmm, I don’t know where we should look for a pet now. There is very small populations nowadays of dogs that is loyal and clever… I’ll miss him so much even though… Yes, I’ll always remember him because he almost bit me…

I tried to look for a picture of him on the files but I seem not to see anything… It was very sad… I remember I had a picture with him but where the hell is it now… :( . Rest in peace Snoopy…

Grievance Policy

feudNote: Don’t mistook this grievance with the first thing that enters your mind.

Wow, that was a surprise. To think we have such power. They said that only our university had this policy. It was all thanks to the Congresswoman who filed it(whoever that is :P ). Because of that, we students are able to enjoy our rights as well our responsibilities as a rightful student of the university.

Not aware to many students, we have a Magna Carta. It is an article where our rights and responsibilities are stipulated.

This right was bestow upon us so that we could claim our right to have the best quality education that we are paying for. This is also a way to peacefully resolve a feud with anyone in the university. Grievances could be filed to anyone in the school. Might it be a classmate or an authority.

Well, because it is right of an student, common cases are about academics of course and professors are the often the accused party.

Common Cases are wrong computation of grades, failure without any valid reason, refusal to show how grades were computed, miscalculation of tardiness and absence, and of course, sexual harassment as well. Well that’s it for our wicked professors.

Still, we should be considerate as well to them. We might as well give them an informal grievance by talking with them verbally at first. Writing a letter to the department chair would only be a choice if it can’t be resolved verbally. To do this, a formal letter is written by the complainant with the whole narration of the incident, citing some witnesses and actions that needs to be executed to resolve the matter. Never forget the signature.

If you need help or witness about verbal dealings, you can ask any SC member to help you.

You can file group grievances as well if you are composed of three people or more.

By the way, if grievances about grade changes are filed after two weeks after the distribution of course cards, the grade can’t be changed anymore! Better be decisive if you are determined to do so.

Formalities

formal

Yeah, What the hell topic. I don’t know but people here in my university seeeems very fond of it and I don’t know why. We had this assembly that obliges us to dress ourselves  in corporate attire. They pisses me off. I heard that there would be visitors and we were used so that the university would look like something “good”. Forget the formalities, they used us so that they would get a good impression? We, the males, had ourselves almost look like our professor in accounting and it is very annoying. The assembly also started late. My precious Friday was wasted. They just let us meet our future professors.

The College of Liberal Arts had their assembly without any restrictions, you can wear decent clothes where you are comfortable, you can skip it as well if you like. I don’t know why our college the only one who did such thing.

Tsk, tsk, formalities, formalities. Look at what time we started. They are formal but not punctual. They’ve got guts to have us wait in this attire. I almost fell asleep during the assembly because of the boring speeches(actually not almost because I had a nap of 5 minutes I guess). I can’t help it. I already attended an assembly of my organization at about 9:00 am so I woke early, considering Friday should be a rest day.

The university is making a fuss about a “mere formality”. Can they make profit of that?

I don’t know if I made friends today but I tagged along with them since they are the only ones around the school that I know. (During the assembly of my organization)

Recollection

recolI have learned something so refreshing last Thursday.

Well, one thing I’ve learned is about a life that is reflective. Anyway, this is supposedly a blog entry. Isn’t that fantastic? I thought people that do blogs are egocentric. Our facilitator said that life that isn’t reflective is not worth it! It gave me enthusiasm to do more blogging even though the schedule is pretty hectic…

There was also this topic about poverty and divine providence. I actually got the picture here. Poor people aren’t made to be charitable to rich people. One classmate of mine said that he had many experiences together with poor people. He said something like… if they had experienced something that rich people does then they would be contented even just to do it once in their lifetime. I can’t believe that he said something like that. It’s just because he has a family that was given the opportunity right? I believe that if he is the poor himself, then he would aim higher as well. I can talk like this because I came from a public high school. I kind of laugh sarcastically inside my mind when I heard him spoke that way because I know that he came from La Salle GH. I guess that what they’re doing over there is just lots of outreach. Now that is where other people get the stereotype ideas… Unlike me who have them as a common circle of friends. (I’m not saying that all of my friends or I are all poor. We are just at the middle class.) I’m not that rich as well so I can tell the same thing. That is we don’t like people that thinks that way.

The statement my blockmate just ticks me off. What he said is basically the same as what the facilitator’s quoted statement by Imelda Marcos. She said, “Hayaan na ang mga mahihirap, Masaya naman sila eh”. Meanwhile, I do agree to what my facilitator said. He said, “Why not do something that is for a lifetime? Not something like treating them to Jollibee and shopping stuffs.” Haha, I’m starting to remember this quotation about the man and teaching him how to fish. That is exactly what we have to do in CWTS!

The activity about the blindness actually got me… I might look so arrogant with this rants but I’m actually not good when talking to other people. Yeah, I might look like a coward here but that is my weakness. I only hope that God would give me the strength to change my personality. With that, I would be a frank and straightforward person. I wouldn’t have the problem whenever to approach someone. I don’t know if I’m making sense here or if my grammar is messy. It’s because I don’t talk too much and does it in writing (that’s where the blog goes).

By the way,

“Poor people aren’t made to be charitable to rich people.”

It is also a quote from Judy Abbot. She came from the anime Watashi no ashinaga Ojisan.

Rain…

rainyI’ve got nothing to do today but to rest and play Wild Arms 5 in order to finish it once and for all.

I don’t know why days with no classes would be the day my brother would be at home to do his stuff. Anyway, It would be sad since he plans to go overseas. I think I should enjoy his company while he is still here. I badly want to finish Wild Arms 5 before he go overseas because he might bring along with him his PS2…

I’m glad my brother came back safe and sound from a “camping” in Rizal. They sure got some guts right? Camping in a stormy day huh. Sounds fun. Anyway, I heard they lost 2 tents(one of it is ours) because of the squall. Poor tents… That’s what they get for the reckless camping during rainy season :| . My brother also lost the other pair of his sandals. How sad, he seemed so happy when he bought it just because of the camp.

I’m also glad that the classes are suspended today since I’m doing a cram mini research supposedly to be submitted today. Anyway, tomorrow is a holiday because of Manila Day.

I just like to comment with the signal suspension when it comes to college. Why is it we should wait for signal #3 to come just to have our class to be suspended? Signal #2 is enough already to suspend our class isn’t? Are they trying to differ our health level from the elementary and high school levels? Isn’t it unfair for us college students? What do they think of us? Just because we are grown up we have stronger resistance against sickness? It’s just non sense.

Rain, strong or not, it could cause colds that would hinder the studies of everyone. Then why not treat the students fairly? Are college students resilient to sickness? Of course not. They should think about it once in awhile. We are the ones to suffer every now and then if there is a heavy rain but our classes are still not suspended.

I hope the people who are suffering the rage of the storm right now would make it. I heard there are many people were stranded on their roofs… There were also this ferry that sunk because of the storm… I feel sorry for all the passengers and feel hatred for the captain. He should have at least noticed the gray sky right? I thought they were trained to predict the weather.

Anyway, I think PAG-ASA has their fault as well. The original path of the storm were reported to go to Aurora and not to central Luzon. Maybe their weather forecast radars are already rusty. Considering that the Sierra Madre would act as a barrier of the storm, then it wouldn’t rain pretty hard here on the Central Luzon. But it was a turn of unexpected events… so the ferry might have decided to continue its sailing not knowing that the storm is on their way.
